30 Jan, 2019

Camberley U3A’s Knit and Natter group donated £172.75 to maritime charity Sailors’ Society on Monday (28 January) after hearing a talk about the organisation’s work with seafarers around the world.

Jacky Oakley from the group, said, “It was really interesting to hear Les talk about the crucial role seafarers play in every day life and how Sailors’ Society supports them globally.”

After the talk, the group presented Les with a cheque as well as donations for the charity’s six charity shops, one of which is in Farnborough.

Les Heyhoe, Sailors’ Society’s community fundraiser, said, “We’re really grateful to Jacky and everyone at the Knit and Natter group for showing such an interest in seafarers and their generous donations to Sailors’ Society’s cause.”
