HELP IN A CRISIS

THE CRISIS RESPONSE NETWORK

Our Crisis Response Network (CRN) provides a free rapid response trauma care and counselling service for survivors of piracy attacks, natural disasters and crises at sea.

Seafarers can face traumatic events in their line of work that have the potential to cause long-lasting damage to their mental and physical health and relationships. But, with the right support, the vast majority of people will make a good recovery.

Our global network of crisis responders is specially trained to help survivors of trauma at sea and their families and is available around the clock, with responders speaking a variety of languages.

A responder will come alongside the seafarer to assess the effect the incident is having on them and offer them the support they need – whether that’s someone to talk to about what happened, professional counselling or practical help to get them back on their feet. They will also help families of trauma survivors to understand what their loved one is going through and what they can do to help them recover.

The CRN works alongside our Wellness at Sea programme, which educates seafarers and their families about what to expect if they are caught in a crisis, how they can respond and how to get help for a colleague or loved one who has been affected by trauma.

The CRN takes the confidentiality of the people it supports very seriously and does not share any personal information without prior consent. Please be aware that the CRN does not provide direct financial services and does not help with employment opportunities.
