HELP IN A CRISIS

Our Crisis Response Network is a highly effective response programme which has been operating for more than five years. This free global service provides 24/7 care and support to seafarers, their families and shipping companies following critical incidents such as piracy, accident and natural disasters.

Our CRN responds to crises every month, with piracy and medical incidents (including those as a result of an injury) being the main issues. Sailors’ Society’s CRN team provide the following services:

  • Case management - face-to-face support available
  • Communication with agencies
  • 24/7 helplines and chat facility
  • Suicide prevention training
  • Tracking and monitoring of piracy incidents, ship casualties, abandonments and other major incidents
  • Raising awareness of mental health, stress and trauma, the importance of training and coping techniques
  • Combatting stigma related to mental health issues
