Last chance for seafarers to have their say on the future of wellness at sea

5 Jul, 2017

Working seafarers have just one month left to have their say on the future of wellness at sea by completing Sailors’ Society’s confidential survey.

The survey, which closes on 2 August 2017, is exploring seafarer wellness and the root causes of illness and injury. More than 800 seafarers have participated in the survey to date.

Global maritime charity Sailors’ Society helps seafarers and their families around the world in times of need. The results of the anonymous survey, which is being conducted by Yale University, will be used to inform Sailors’ Society’s work supporting good health.

Sandra Welch, Sailors’ Society’s deputy CEO and director of programme, said: “We’ve had a great response to the survey so far. We hope that even more seafarers will come forward and have their say before the survey closes.

“The survey takes just a few minutes to complete and we’ll use the results to further our understanding and improve our welfare services for the hundreds of thousands of seafarers that we reach out to each year.”

The survey can be completed anonymously and can be accessed at: www.sailors-society.org/survey.

The research study forms part of Sailors’ Society’s wider Wellness at Sea programme, which promotes on board health and well-being.

Other elements of the Wellness at Sea programme include a coaching course and a free app for seafarers. Sailors’ Society will also be launching an e-learning platform to make the Wellness at Sea coaching programme accessible to a wider audience.
