Dedicated followers of fashion

Students from Southampton Solent University took to the runway for a fashion show with a difference at a local charity shop yesterday (19 April).

Danielle Canepari, Molly Astill and Hope Laforce organised the show using items that had been donated to Sailors’ Society’s shop on East Street.

The charity, which is based in Woolston, works internationally to provide practical, emotional and spiritual welfare support to the world’s 1.6m seafarers, regardless of background or faith. Sailors’ Society chaplains and ship visitors have a presence in 91 global ports, with wider projects and services covering 29 countries.

Sailors’ Society’s community fundraiser, Les Heyhoe BCAv, said: “We’re really grateful to everyone who came along and volunteered their time for a fantastic cause. It was great to get the local community involved and will hopefully be the first of many similar events.”

If you have any unwanted items you can drop them off at the East Street store.
