Locks Heath store supports Southampton-based charity

8 Feb, 2019

The Waitrose store in Locks Heath made a donation of £290 to a Southampton-based maritime charity today (8 February).

The money was raised as part of the store’s Community Matters programme and will go towards Sailors’ Society’s work supporting seafarers around the world.

Store manager Darren Pritchett said, “With around 90 per cent of the goods we stock coming by sea, supporting Sailors’ Society was a great opportunity to thank the men and women we rely upon to transport it.”

Les Heyhoe, Sailors’ Society’s community fundraiser, who collected the cheque, said, “We’re grateful to Darren and the Waitrose team for their generous support of Sailors’ Society, the money they have helped raise will make a real difference to the seafarers we support.”
