Cuteness overload, dad meets his four-month old baby for first time

6 Feb, 2019

Seafarer Leo Laurente cuddles his four-month old baby for the very first time, having returned home to the Philippines from a nine-month contract at sea.

Seafarers often spend up to a year at a time away from their loved ones, delivering 90 per cent of the goods we use every day.

Leo, who was supported by maritime charity Sailors’ Society while he was docked in the UK, said, “No words can describe how happy I am to finally meet, touch, carry, kiss and hug my little boy. To see his sweet smile for the first time is so precious.”

Sailors’ Society’s CEO Stuart Rivers said, “Many people don’t realise that almost everything we use and own comes by sea, transported by seafarers like Leo, who make huge sacrifices to bring us what we need.”

Finally reunited, Leo with his wife Ethil and their son Ezrah
