Rebuild

Our rebuilding work began at the start of 2014 following Typhoon Haiyan, which devastated communities in the Philippines, where many of the world’s seafarers are from. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity Great Britain we built 44 new homes, one school building and a medical facility in Bohol, four houses and two school rooms in Bantayan and a medical facility in Tacloban. But there’s so much more to do…

On 8 November 2013 Typhoon Haiyan made landfall in the Visayas region of the Philippines, throwing millions of lives into chaos. Sailors' Society's emergency appeal raised £225,000 to rebuild homes, lives and communities.

Together we’ve transformed thousands of lives in the Philippines, but there’s still more to do. In 2016, we plan to build more homes and medical centres for seafaring communities affected by Typhoon Haiyan.
