Ecumenical Collaboration

Working together with other Christians is essential to our Mission

Every Christian, in each dimension of life, has an opportunity for prayer, charity and collaboration in mission to which Christ calls them.

In this spirit, in its work for seafarers, the cooperation of the Sailors’ Society with many denominations is based on our common faith and that cooperation is a manifestation of Christ himself.

Our success in our mission to care for merchant seafarers owes a great deal to the relationships that our Society has established with organisations from many denominations. Relationships that began with meeting a common need and have since strengthened as we work together in harmony.

We all do the same things – serve seafarers on their ships, operate Clubs and Centres for seafarers' recreation and communication, receive and manage endowments, fundraise and help donors leave a legacy – we may each have different audiences.  But the resulting synergy and the united approach to our mission benefits the seafarer in particular and ultimately the maritime community at large.

We all share a common love for God, our partners in mission and our community. We have shown that by working together we can do much more good – that’s what it is all about.”
