Sailors’ Society Services of Worship
These are the principal services of worship that the Society is involved with each year, when we have a special opportunity to give thanks to God for the work that we are privileged to do.
This service is to be held at St Columba’s Church, Pont Street, London at 12 noon, Tuesday 23rd October 2012 when our Trustees invite our supporters, and staff to meet, to worship and to give thanks for completing another year of service to seafarers.
Sailors’ Society Christmas Carol Service – London
In 2012, an Ecumenical Service of readings and Christmas carols will be held on 19th December at the splendid church of All Hallows by the Tower, London. All are welcome.
The Annual Scottish Service for Seafarers – Leith
Each year, the Sailors’ Society is represented at this key service for seafarers in Scotland. In 2012 it will again be held at the magnificent South Leith Parish Church on Sunday, 18th November.
The Service is traditionally attended by the Lord Provost and Councillors of the City of Edinburgh together with the High Constable, The Master and Members of Trinity House of Leith, Senior Officers of the Royal Navy together with many other dignitaries, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Sea Cadets and Trustees and Chaplains of the Society joining with Revd Ian Gilmour, Honorary Chaplain of the Sailors’ Society and Minister, South Leith Parish Church.
Merchant Navy Day Commemorative Service – London
This year the Reunion and open air ecumenical Service of Commemoration will be Sunday, 9th September at Trinity Gardens, Tower Hill, London. This is the Sunday following Merchant Navy Day – 3rd September.
The service commemorates the courage and dedication shown by those members of the British and Commonwealth Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleets. All are welcome to join us as we remember them.
