Pass It On

This is the chance to tell your special story or allow us to tell it for you

Tell us your story

Nothing brings an issue to life more than a real-life story told from first-hand experience.

People who have shared their stories with us have helped our work in many ways, from promoting a better understanding of modern seafarers’ issues, highlighting our campaign work and speaking out about our valued activity on our behalf.

Will you tell us your story? Email us your experience of how we have helped you or how you needed our help and support.

Will you let us Tell your story?

If we have been able to assist you in an unexpected or unusual way we would be delighted to know about this and to be able to tell others about your experience. Although our chaplains make regular factual and statistical reports to our Principal Chaplain and our Operations Manager, sometimes they are so busy going from ship to ship that they don’t realise how even a small gesture has made a difference to individuals.

We’d also love to know if, as a serving seafarer, you generally found our service useful and helpful and to be able to tell it to others.

You accept that by telling us stories in this way you give us your permission to pass it on and publish the details in any medium belonging to the Sailors’ Society.

Your story can of course be published anonymously, but we will need your email address in case we need to contact you about anything in your story. If you wish us to preserve your anonymity then please let us know at the time of writing to us and we will respect your wishes.

If you are happy for us to publish your experience then please email us.

Important Disclaimer

Please note that whilst we will preserve the essence of any account that we receive the Sailors’ Society reserves the absolute right to edit all stories received in this way before publication and although we will endeavour to verify any factual circumstance, the Society will accept no liability for the accuracy of the facts being reported and published in any medium owned by the Sailors’ Society after receipt of the information being sent to us.

If you found that we didn't quite match up to your expectations we would also like to know how  you wanted help and what you felt was lacking from us. Knowing our shortcomings will allow us to reflect on how we might improve our service to beneficiaries, relate to donors and satisfy our stakeholders.
