A donation in memory is a very special way to remember a loved one 

A donation in memory helps us to continue to provide vital support to merchant seafarers and care for their families in times of great need and when they are at their most vulnerable.

Many people choose to remember a loved one by making a donation in memory to charity, or by asking for donations as an alternative to sending flowers to a funeral. It can be comforting to know that a gift given in memory of your loved one can help us care for seafarers in the future.  

If you nominate the Sailors' Society it will ensure much needed funds continue to provide help to merchant seafarers separated from loved ones while they seek to provide better lives for their families at home.

Donations can be sent to us either by a relative or by the funeral director. You could, for example, arrange with the funeral director for a donation to be sent to the Sailors’ Society instead of flowers and they will forward this to us. 

When you make a donation, we will send you a personal letter to thank you for your gift. If you ask us to, we will also send a personal letter to the next of kin of the person remembered, showing the total amount given.

You can also choose to make donations in memory at other times, for example on a special anniversary you would like to remember. 

If the person you wish to remember had a previous connection with the sea in some way, please let us know. We are always interested in that special contribution that someone has made in the seafaring community.
