Involve your Church with our Society
Sharing knowledge of the seafarer’s life together can be such a benefit for all who worship
In everyday life many churches are responding to those who feel isolated for a host of reasons. We will value any experience and insight from within your congregation that could help us in our ministry to seafarers, as you will recognise and understand the pressures and troubles ordinarily encountered. Seafarers face similar challenges in their life, but these are heightened because of their shipborard routine with no respite.
We invite you to help raise awareness of the reasons why merchant seafarers need our support and welfare and why we do the work that we do. Perhaps you may be able to explain and coordinate understanding of the need for supporting merchant seafarers within your church community, encouraging each other to reach out to help? Maybe you could suggest how to organise a Sea Sunday service to celebrate the work that seafarers do?
Ask God what it is He would like you to do. Take your time. Speak to the most effective people within your church about what you can collectively do to help seafarers. Maybe put yourself forward and make it a commitment to spread the word to others about our work?
If you would like more information on how your church can get more involved with maritime ministry or you would like to have a more explicit presentation in person on what we do and why, please email our Community Relations Coordinator, Revd Mark Warner. He will be most pleased to assist.
