Existing to enrich and enhance their well-being through its Chaplains, and its Seafarers’ Clubs and Centres in ports, seafarers are offered a wide spectrum of services, both to them and their families – provision of welfare, pastoral support and counsel, spiritual support, funding assistance with continuing maritime education and financial help when in dire need.
Chaplains at ports are trained and equipped to meet with a variety of seafarer’s practical needs. They are able to sell mobile phone cards, change money into local currency, offer transport ashore, pass out information about local shops and churches, act as a local guide, arrange outings to local beauty spots and conduct worship both ashore and onboard if asked. They are available for that private discussion that many seafarers want to have to unburden their personal problems and anxiety.
