The Sailors’ Society works in many ports around the world
Consisting of some 90 staff employed worldwide, we are based in Southampton, England and are present in over 30 countries around the world. The Society is a charity registered in England, Wales and Scotland and is also a company limited by guarantee.
To provide our core service we presently have full time Chaplains established in 21 key ports across the globe where there is the greatest need. From Brazil in the west through Curacao, across to Britain, Russia, Northern and Eastern Europe, down to Ghana, Madagascar, across to the Indian Ocean, India, on to the Philippines and Indonesia and down to Australia in the south.
We also have strong relations with our sister Societies, governed independently but operating under the Sailors’ Society banner, in Canada, New Zealand and Southern Africa.
Our Chaplains belong to a variety of Christian denominations and are mostly working in their country of origin, so they know the language, location and local customs intimately. They know how to get help rapidly when a seafarer needs it.
