How we do the work we do
We primarily visit ships to provide practical and pastoral care to all merchant seafarers. Our trained Chaplains go aboard thousands of ships in ports each year and are often the first to notice when all is not well onboard.
Our Chaplains extend a welcome to seafarers, offer them advice, practical help, care and unconditional friendship according to the guiding principles of our Christian mission, which are to befriend and help all seafarers in need, irrespective of their nationality and faith. We work to provide ministry which values human life, cares for those in need and gives dignity to all who seek our assistance.
Our Chaplains also help seafarers and their families ashore in times of great need, for example after a bereavement or in situations where they are the survivors of piracy.
We focus our activity where it is needed the most. Our Chaplains prioritise their work where the need is greatest.
